Burger Crust
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large egg
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Toppings
- 3 tablespoons tomato sauce
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese, sliced
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- ¼ medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
Special Burger Sauce
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- ½ tablespoon ketchup
- ½ tablespoon yellow mustard, (optional)
- 2 tablespoons pickles, finely diced
Garnish
- sesame seeds, black olives, bacon
Preheat the oven to 400F/200C.
In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined. Mixing with your hands is the easiest way to ensure everything mixes well. Divide meat into 2 sections. Using your hands, flatten each meat section into a circle about 8-9” in diameter. Each burger crust should be about ¼” tall. *You can also flatten the meat between two pieces of parchment paper, pressing into shape with your hands. Transfer burger crusts to a baking rack over a baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove burger crusts from the oven. Spread tomato sauce over each crust and top with sliced cheese. Bake for 2 minutes or until cheese has melted.
Top each burger meatza with tomato, lettuce, onion, and any optional garnishes (black olives, sesame seeds, and diced bacon). Drizzle the burger sauce over each burger meatza. Enjoy!
